Life Stands Still

Creating a still-life is rarely an exciting endeavor for me, but I cannot argue with the fact that rendering an object from life is an invaluable exercise.  When you see how an object behaves in its own space, you gain a better understanding of how similar objects will behave as you prepare to render a scene from your own imagination.  Ok, that's enough Art Theory babble...  Here are a few of my still life compositions:

"Still Life with Shoe"
graphite
12 x 18"
2004

"The Dishes"
charcoal
18 x 32"
2005

"In the Round"

2003

"With a candlestick"
charcoal
18 x 34"

"Leg in a bowl"
